Akola, Sept. 21 -- Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Dattatreya Bharane today assured farmers that they will receive compensation for crop losses caused by excessive rainfall. The minister stated that an official damage assessment is underway, and no farmer will be deprived of relief.

Speaking to reporters, Bharane said that heavy rains across the state have caused extensive damage to nearly 6.3 million hectares of land. He added that the panchnama (survey of losses) is being conducted on a priority basis. He mentioned that a provision of Rs 6,000 crore has been made under the Nanaji Deshmukh Krishi Sanjivani Yojana and Rs 5,000 crore under the Krishi Samruddhi Yojana to support the agriculture sector.
