Nagpur, Dec. 13 -- Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Saturday said that state Forest Minister Ganesh Naik's suggestion to release goats into forests to prevent leopards from entering human settlements in search of prey might not be effective but we need to think of other measures.
While talking to the media persons informally, he laughed and said that if this suggestion is approved the villagers might end up eating the goats instead.
Pawar said leopards are breeding in certain areas, especially sugarcane regions, and the government is exploring options like sterilization and setting up rescue centers.
