Mumbai, Dec. 21 -- As couting of votes for elections held to elect chairpersons for 288 urban local bodies, comprising 246 Municipal councils and 42 Nagar Panchayats, started in right earnest on Sunday morning, ruling Mahayuti alliance comprising BJP, Eknath Shinde led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar's NCP, has established clear lead over the opposition alliance - Maha Vikas Aghadi. As per the latest reports from various counting stations, the Mahayuti alliance is maintaining commanding leads across large parts of the state, pointing towards a consolidation of its recent Assembly election mandate at the grassroots level.
