Mumbai, Nov. 4 -- The Maharashtra State Election Commission today announced the long-awaited schedule for the local body elections in the state.

As per the schedule, the local body polls will be held on December 2 while the counting of votes will be held on December 3 and the results for the Nagar Parishads and Nagar Panchayats will be declared on December 10.

While making announcement in a press conference here, State Election Commissioner Dinesh T Waghmare said that dates were announced for all local bodies , except for the 29 municipal corporations. The local bodies include 246 Nagar Parishads and 42 Nagar Panchayats.

The nomination process for the polls will begin on November 10.
