Mumbai, July 10 -- The Maharashtra police have recorded 1,881 cybercrime cases in the past five months, prompting cops to urge internet users to exercise caution, especially on social media platforms.

The Cyber Police have also warned that posting, forwarding, or even liking contents that may hurt religious sentiments or with objectionable language could lead to criminal charges and even police custody. Users are advised to think carefully before posting anything online.

Out of the total reported cases, 393 crimes have been solved, resulting in the arrest of 363 individuals. Six cases related to religiously sensitive posts were also registered during this period, with three individuals being arrested. Police have confirmed that action is ...
