Mumbai, Sept. 23 -- Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today virtually laid here the foundation stone for an Amazon Web Services (AWS) data Centre, part of the company's USD 8.3 billion investment in the state, an official statement from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said.

The virtual ground-breaking ceremony was performed remotely from 'Varsha', which is the official residence of the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

US billionaire Jeff Bezos-owned Amazon Web Services (AWS) began the first phase of its USD 8.3-billion investment in Maharashtra, after a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, earlier this year.
