Mumbai, Dec. 2 -- Voting for the first phase of municipal council and nagar panchayat elections in Maharashtra was disrupted on Tuesday due to technical glitches in Electronic Voting Machines at several locations across the state.

While polling began at 7:30 am as scheduled, the sudden malfunctioning of EVMs led to suspensions lasting over half an hour at multiple centres, causing significant inconvenience to voters who had queued up in large numbers.

In Solapur district, voting was completely suspended at the Netaji Parshala centre of Mohol Nagar Parishad after the EVMs stopped functioning abruptly. Efforts by polling staff to repair the machines were underway, increasing anxiety among voters standing in queues.
