Nagpur, Oct. 26 -- Citizens across Maharashtra lost approximately Rs 112 crore in 218 cases of digital arrest scams between January and August 2025, according to data released by the state Cyber police.
Of the 218 offences registered during this eight-month span, only 26 cases have been successfully solved.
Reported details from the Maharashtra Cyber Police show that 49 individuals have been arrested in connection with the scam.
Recoveries stand at about Rs 1.50 crore; frozen assets amount to Rs 5.51 crore.
The scamsters prey largely on older or digitally inexperienced citizens, officials said.
