Mumbai, Sept. 17 -- Advocate General of Maharashtra Birendar Saraf tendered his resignation citing personal reasons today.
Saraf, who was appointed as AG in August 2022, wishes to return to private practice,it was learnt.
According to sources, during the cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Devendar Fadnavis informed his colleagues about the resignation of the Advocate General and said he has requested Saraf to work as AG until further arrangements are madeIn his letter addressed to the Chief Minister, Saraf informed that he would be stepping down with effect from September 30.
He indicated that this date would give the state government adequate time to pick his successor and ensure a smooth transition.
