Mumbai, June 4 -- The Western Railway has collected a fine of Rs 35 lakh and penalised 10,300 unauthorised passengers who were found travelling in AC compartments of Mumbai local trains in a month between April and May 2025, according to a data made available here on Wednesday.
According to Chief Public Relations officer of WR, Vineet Abhishek, during the month of May, an amount of Rs 21.65 crore was recovered through detection of 3.02 lakh ticketless/irregular passengers, including unbooked luggage cases.
Also, in May, WR realised fines amounting to Rs 5.71 crore through detection of more than 1.04 lakh cases over Mumbai Suburban section.
