Mumbai, Aug. 6 -- Western Railway's intensive ticket-checking drive across Mumbai locals, mail/express, passenger, and holiday special trains has recovered 70.98 crore in fines from April to July 2025.

Senior commercial officers supervised the campaign targeting ticketless travellers and irregular commuters.

The collection marks a 24% surge compared to the same period last year and exceeds Railway Board targets by 11%. Mumbai suburban sections contributed 19.55 crore to the total.

According to Western Railway's official release, July alone saw 2.22 lakh cases of ticketless travel, unbooked luggage, and irregular journeys detected, resulting in 12.19 crore recoveries - a 134% year-on-year increase. Within Mumbai suburbs, 92,000 cases yie...
