Mumbai, Sept. 16 -- Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray today demanded that the Maharashtra state government immediately provide financial assistance to farmers affected by heavy rains.

Speaking to journalists at his residence, Thackeray stated that while full compensation may not be immediately possible, the government must provide some monetary help to farmers without delay. He said that heavy rains had destroyed crops in many districts and also washed away the fertile topsoil. Thackeray emphasised that farmers are facing a dual crisis and the government must stand firmly with them.
