Yavatmal, Dec. 20 -- A tiger was found dead near the Belora mine check post in Wani taluka of Maharashtra's Yavatmal district today morning, triggering concern and attracting attention in the forest area, Forest officials said.
Officials said some workers and residents noticed the tiger lying motionless near the roadside close to the check post and immediately informed the Forest department.
Forest officials and staff reached the spot soon after receiving the information.
The exact cause of the tiger's death is yet to be ascertained.
Preliminary discussions suggest possible reasons such as poisoning, a vehicle collision or natural causes.
Officials have stated that the cause will be confirmed only after the post-mortem examination.
