Raigad, June 22 -- Three members of a family died by drowning while swimming in a farm pond on Mumbai-Goa National Highway at Bense village near Palaspe in the coastal district of Maharashtra, said police on Sunday.
Police said that three teenage boys had gone for swim in a farm pond (Saldoli) which falls under Bense Siddharth Nagar village on the Pezhari-Nagothane road in Alibaug taluka of the district on Saturday night.
After being informed of incident, a team of Nagothane Police Station reached the spot and tried their best to save them and pulled them out of the pond late at night.
Police took them to a local hospital but all died during treatment, sources added.
