Chandrapur, Feb. 20 -- A shocking incident has emerged from Maharashtra's Chandrapur district, where a son brutally assaulted his mother over a trivial matter of cooking bitter gourd (Karela) curry, resulting in her death, police said on Friday.
The incident occurred last night in Dongargaon of Mul tehsil, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Sumitra Petkule (65), while the accused son is reported to be Jagdish Petkule (37).
According to the information, following an argument with his mother, Jagdish assaulted Sumitra with kicks and punches, leading to her death on the spot.
It is reported that the accused was addicted to alcohol. Two months ago, his wife had left the house, after which he was living with his mother.
