Nagpur, March 19 -- Fahim Shahim Khan, prime accused in Nagpur violence case, was arrested on Wednesday and remanded to police custody till March 21.
Khan, who is the president of a political party Minorities Democratic Party (MDP), is believed to be one of the key instigators of the Nagpur Mahal riot on Monday.
Arrested by Ganeshpeth police, Khan had earlier led a mob to the Ganeshpeth Police Station to lodge a complaint after Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) allegedly burned a holy 'chadar' and an effigy of Aurangzeb at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's statue near Gandhi Gate in Mahal.
According to the prosecution case, Khan had made a provocative speech outside the police station and also instigated the mob for violence.
