Chandrapur, Dec. 31 -- The investigation into an illegal kidney transplant racket, initiated after a complaint by a farmer from Maharashtra's Chandrapur district, has uncovered a nationwide network involving agents, donors, doctors and hospitals, police officials said today.
According to the officials, several illegal kidney transplant surgeries were allegedly carried out at a private hospital in Trichy, Tamil Nadu.
Based on fresh leads, teams from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and the Local Crime Branch (LCB) have been sent to Delhi and Trichy to detain two doctors whose names emerged during the probe.
