Akola, Oct. 9 -- A 59-year-old OBC rights activist, Vijay Bochare, a resident of Alegaon in Patur taluka, allegedly died by suicide after hanging himself at the Alegaon bus stand passenger shelter in the early hours today.
Bochare, a lifelong campaigner for OBC community rights and a staunch supporter of Cabinet Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, is said to have taken the extreme step after posting three emotional status messages on social media expressing anguish over the current situation of OBC reservation.
Before his death, Bochare reportedly wrote to the Chief Minister and senior OBC leaders, expressing that the state government's recent stance on Maratha reservation had created widespread insecurity among OBC communities.
