Mumbai, Jan. 25 -- Senior Shinde Sena leader and former Congress member of Parliament, Sanjay Nirupam, has defended the presence of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar at a felicitation ceremony held in honour of Chief Justice of India Justice Suryakant, stating that their attendance was guided strictly by state protocol and constitutional responsibility, not political considerations.
The ceremony was organised at the Bombay High Court during the Chief Justice's visit to Mumbai on January 25. With the Chief Minister not present in the city at the time, the two Deputy Chief Ministers attended the event in keeping with established administrative norms, according to Nirupam.
