Pune, March 15 -- Commenting on a resolution passed to ban Muslim traders from the Madhi-Kanifnath Yatra, NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar on Saturday targeted the leaders who introduced such a resolution, saying that such a practice had never existed in Maharashtra.

Talking to reporters in Ahilyanagar, he said that if certain sarpanchs and some people are deliberately spreading hatred in the land of saints, then these people have not understood the thoughts of saints and great people.

"So, some leaders are working to spread hatred. Therefore, instead of imitating leaders, imitate saints," he said without naming sarpanch Sanjay Markad of Madhi.
