Malegaon, Feb. 7 -- In the mayoral and deputy mayoral elections of Malegaon Municipal Corporation today, the Islam Party along with the Samajwadi Party came to power with the support of the Congress.

Sheikh Nasreen Bano Khalid of the Islam Party was elected as Mayor and Shan-e-Hind of the Samajwadi Party was elected as Deputy Mayor.

In the direct contest for the mayoral post, Sheikh Nasreen Bano Khalid secured 43 votes, defeating nearest rival candidate Lata Sakharam Ghodke of Shiv Sena by a margin of 25 votes.

In the deputy mayoral election, Shan-e-Hind also secured 43 votes, defeating the Shiv Sena candidate Nilesh Kakade, achieving a decisive victory.
