Nagpur, Oct. 24 -- union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari today announced that the Nagpur-Bhandara National Highway will be widened to six lanes to improve travel efficiency and road safety.
Speaking at a Diwali celebration event in Nagpur, Gadkari said the project is estimated to cost around Rs 1,600 crore and has already received administrative approval. Tendering for the expansion is expected to begin soon.
Gadkari noted that the Nagpur-Bhandara stretch is one of the busiest routes in the Vidarbha region and currently operates as a four-lane highway. The increasing vehicular movement has led to frequent congestion and a higher risk of accidents, which the expansion aims to alleviate.
