Pune, Feb. 22 -- The city police detained activists of Maratha Kranti Morcha here on Saturday when they tried to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah in connection with sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh murder case.
As Shah was in city for the 27th West Zonal Council meeting, MKM coordinators Sachin Adekar and Rekha Konde came to the Westin Hotel in Koregaon Park along with other activists, but police did not allow the coordinators to enter.
When activists became aggressive, police detained them.
The activists demanded that almost 70 days have passed since the murder of Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh of Beed, but few accused are still absconding. They alleged that accused in the murder of Santosh Deshmukh are being given a VIP treatment in jail.
