Chandrapur, Jan. 14 -- A 60-year-old farmer was killed by a tiger in the Nagbhid forest area of Chandrapur district in Maharashtra, an official said on Wednesday.
According to the officials the incident occurred on Tuesday evening.
The victim, identified as Bhaurao Vithoba Raut, a resident of Torgao village, was about to return home after inspecting his crop when a tiger, moving through the field, suddenly charged at him and killed him on the spot.
Later, the big cat dragged Raut inside the forest, said the officials.
Upon receiving information about the incident, officials from the Forest Department, along with the Rapid Response Unit (RRU), rushed to the spot.
