Nashik, June 6 -- A 45-year-old man was killed on the spot when a leopard attacked him in Maharashtra's Nashik district, forest department officials said on Friday.

The incident took place at Bhadane-Raipur Shivar near Manmad in Chandwad taluka on Thursday night.

According to the forest department, the deceased, identified as Ramdas Sitaram Aher, was attacked by the leopard while he was returning home from work. The leopard, lurking in the darkness, suddenly pounced on Ramdas, grabbed him by the neck and took him to the bushes on the side of the road.

A man passing by in his car was alerted when he saw blood stains on the road and heard a sound in the trees.

He immediately shouted and cried for help, and as a result the leopard fled. ...
