Mumbai, April 28 -- Mumbai police have arrested a man for allegedly threatening BJP leader and former MP Kirit Somaiya who demanded action against "unauthorised" use of lpudspeakers in mosques.

In a post shared on the social media platform X, Somaiya on Monday stated that the accused, Yusuf Umar Ansari, was arrested by personnel from Shivaji Nagar police station.

When contacted, a Shivaji Nagar police station officer confirmed the arrest but refused to provide further details as the matter is under investigation.

Somaiya has recently escalated his campaign against the use of unauthorised loudspeakers at religious sites, filing a formal police complaint concerning 72 mosques in the Mankhurd Govandi suburb of eastern Mumbai. UNI AAA ARN SS...
