Mumbai, Feb. 22 -- A massive fire broke out in a six-storey residential building at Marine Lines in South Mumbai on Saturday, officials said.
However, there were no casualties in this incident.
According to sources in the Fire Brigade, the fire broke out at 1226 pm in a flat of about 2,000 square feet at Marine Chambers and it was confined to electric wiring and electric installations, in which wooden furniture, important documents, false ceiling, rubber tube of household gas cylinder, mattresses, sofa set, other household articles, etc., were destroyed.
People who were stranded on upper floors due to smoke were safely rescued by firemen through the staircase.
The fire was eventually extinguished at 1411 pm, sources added.
