Malegaon, Feb. 7 -- A major accident was narrowly averted at the Malegaon Municipal Corporation building here today, when an elevator collapsed suddenly from the fourth floor of the municipal building, trapping in all 18 people in the lift.
Fortunately, there was no loss of life or injuries.
Incidentally, the elevator did not fall directly to the ground floor but got stuck at the first floor, preventing a major disaster. As a result, everyone in the elevator remained safe.
Upon receiving information of the incident, the fire brigade and police immediately rushed to the scene. The wall on the first floor was broken down, and with special efforts, the trapped people were rescued one by one.
