Baramati, Jan. 28 -- Following the tragic death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP (AP) president Ajit Pawar in a plane crash, the safety of the Learjet 45 aircraft model has once again come under intense scrutiny.

Reports indicate that this model has been involved in several accidents in the past, earning it the grim nickname of a "fireball aircraft" in aviation circles.

The aircraft, carrying Ajit Pawar from Mumbai to Baramati, reportedly developed a technical malfunction while landing at the Baramati airport. As the jet touched the runway, it lost control, veered off course, and exploded in a massive ball of fire. All six people on board were killed in the accident, with no survivors.
