Mumbai, Oct. 22 -- The Maharashtra government has sanctioned Rs 270 crore for development works across constituencies represented by 54 ruling Mahayuti legislators, a move seen as politically timed ahead of the upcoming local body elections.

A government resolution (GR) issued by the Planning Department allocates Rs 5 crore to each MLA for constituency-level projects.

The direct financial support to legislators follows demands by ruling coalition members for additional local development funds.
