Mumbai, May 21 -- Following the tragic collapse of a slab in a four-story building in Kalyan town of
neighbouring Thane district which resulted in six deaths and several injuries, the owner of a flat in the building was arrested on Wednesday for carrying out illegal construction activities.
According to police, Krishna Lal Chand Chaurasiya (40), the owner of flat number 401 on the fourth floor of the Saptashrungi building carried out unauthorised flooring work without permission.
On Tuesday afternoon, the slab suddenly gave way and crashed onto the floors below, causing the fatal accident.
Among the six deceased was a two-year-old child. Six others sustained injuries in the incident.
