Mumbai, Aug. 21 -- An environmental expert has raised serious concerns about artificial ponds created for Ganesh idol immersion across Maharashtra, stating they have become mosquito-breeding grounds and proposed some practical alternatives, including portable fibreglass ponds.

Dr. Prashant Ruindar Sunkar, in an emotional appeal to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, said that the temporary water bodies for immersion do not serve their eco-friendly purpose.
