Mumbai, Feb. 20 -- Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has received an alleged death threat from an unknown person via an email, warning that his car would be blown up with a bomb, an official said here on Thursday.

The Goregaon and J J Marg police stations, along with the Mantralaya (State Secretariat), also received the threatening messages.

The Mumbai Police and the Crime Branch have launched an investigation to trace the sender's IP address.

In response to the threat, security around Eknath Shinde has been beefed up.
