Mumbai, April 1 -- The Congress in Maharashtra on Tuesday slammed the Mahayuti government over its decision to reportedly serve notices to the audience members who attended stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra show, saying that issuing such notices clearly indicates an attempt to turn the state into a police-controlled regime.

Reacting to the issue, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Harshavardhan Sapkal said that during the Congress government's tenure, Maharashtra had a strong law enforcement presence, and Mumbai Police were often compared to Scotland Yard.

However, ever since Devendra Fadnavis took charge of the Home department, the state's law and order situation has deteriorated significantly, he alleged.
