Mumbai, Feb. 19 -- Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee president Harshavardhan Sapkal paid tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on occasion of his 395th birth anniversary on Wednesday at the party headquarters.

Talking to reporters after paying tribute, he said that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj established Swarajya with the support of warriors from various castes and communities. He fought against powerful enemies using guerrilla warfare tactics, which is a source of inspiration for people.

Shivaji Maharaj not only fought Aurangzeb, Nizam Shah and Adil Shah but also had to resist the prevailing religious orthodoxy of his time.
