Mumbai, June 9 -- In the wake of a tragic rail accident near Thane, where four passengers lost their lives after falling from an overcrowded local train between Diva and Mumbra stations on Monday, the Central Railway has announced three key safety enhancements aimed at preventing similar incidents in the future.
The accident occurred this morning at around 9:20 AM to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT)-bound local train from Kasara. Due to severe overcrowding, many passengers were forced to stand on the footboard. As the train passed close to another, eight passengers fell off, resulting in four deaths and serious injuries to four others, who are currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Kalwa.
