Beed (Maharashtra), Sept. 16 -- Heavy rainfall in Beed city and surrounding areas over the past two days has caused severe flooding, with the city's largest Landi drain overflowing for the first time since 1989.

The flood waters entered numerous houses in Mominpura area, sweeping away household goods, important documents, livestock, vehicles and handcarts as water levels rose suddenly.

Many residents were forced to evacuate their homes to save their lives during the emergency situation.

Former Nagar Sewak Khurshid Alam along with colleagues immediately reached the affected area and helped shift citizens to safer locations.
