Maha: Astronomer Dr Jayant Narlikar cremated with state honours

Pune, May 21 -- World-renowned astronomer, Dr Jayant Narlikar, was cremated with state honours at the Vaikunth crematorium here on Wednesday. On behalf of the government, divisional commissioner Dr Chandrakant Pulkundwar paid tribute by offering a wreath on his mortal remains. Deputy collector Ramhari Bhosale, Sub-Divisional officer Poonam Ahire, Tehsildar Suryakant Yewle, Dr Narlikar's family, relatives and dignitaries from various fields were present. Earlier, the body of Dr Narlikar was brought from "Ayuka" to the Vaikunth crematorium. The national flag placed on his mortal remains was handed over to his family. The policemen fired gun salute.
