Gadchiroli, Sept. 24 -- In a major success for Maharashtra's anti-Naxal campaign, six senior Naxalites with a combined bounty of Rs 62 lakh surrendered before state Director General of Police Rashmi Shukla today, officials said.
Those who laid down arms included two Divisional Committee Members, Bhimanna alias Venkatesh alias Sukhlal Kulmethe (58) and his wife Vimalakka alias Shankarakka Sadmek (56) along with Commander Kavita alias Shanti Majji, PPCMs Nagesh alias Aytal Madvi and Sameer Potam and ACM Navata alias Rupi Madavi. All of them were wanted in serious criminal cases.
Officials said the surrendered cadres will be rehabilitated under the state government scheme.
