Gondia, Jan. 9 -- : A four-year-old child was killed in a leopard attack in Khadki (Dongargaon) village of Tiroda taluka in Maharashtra's Gondia district on Friday, triggering fear among residents of nearby rural areas, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Hiansh Shivshankar Rahangdale.
According to officials, the child was sitting near a hearth in the backyard of his house with his parents when a leopard, believed to be hiding nearby, suddenly attacked and carried him away.
Despite the parents' attempts to chase the animal while raising an alarm, the leopard escaped into the forest.
The child's body was later found by villagers at some distance from the house.
