Ch. Sambhajinagar, Aug. 20 -- At least 11 people have died in rain-related incidents across the Marathwada region since August 14, with Nanded district bearing the brunt of the devastation, as flash floods claimed seven lives there alone.
The torrential rains have wreaked havoc on agricultural lands, damaging over 5.5 lakh hectares of kharif crops across 17 districts in Maharashtra. The Marathwada and Vidarbha regions have suffered the maximum impact. Nanded district has reported the highest crop damage with 2,59,789 hectares of agricultural land affected, followed by Hingoli with 56,806 hectares and Parbhani with 21,092 hectares.
