Chennai, July 27 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said the musical tribute rendered by
maestro Ilayaraja, also a nominated member of the Rajya Sabha, to Chola King Rajendra Chola-1
gave a spiritual experience to him.
Ilayaraja performed the music tribute at Gangaikonda Cholapuram in Gangaikonda Cholapuram
temple to mark the Adi Thiruvaathirai festival which was being celebrated as 'Mupperum Vizha',
commemorating 1000 years of maritime expedition of Rajendra Chola-I to South East Asia, the
birth anniversary of the Emperor and the commencement of construction of the
Gangaikondacholapuram temple by the King.
At the valedictory event, Music composer Ilaiyaraaja rendered songs from Thiruvasagam, the
