Chennai, Sept. 24 -- In a major setback for the Tamil Nadu government, the Madras High Court on Wednesday transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation the probe into the July 2024 murder of former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president K. Armstrong by an armed gang.

Passing the orders, Justice P. Velmurugan expressed dissatisfaction at the manner in which the Greater Chennai City Police had conducted the investigation and pointed out gaping holes in the probe.

The judge transferred the case to the CBI on a petition by the deceased leader's brother, K. Imanuel.
