Chennai, Sept. 24 -- In a major setback to the Tamil Nadu government, the Madras High Court today transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the probe into the July 2024 gruesome murder of former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) State President and dalit leader K Armstrong by an armed gang.
Passing the orders, Justice P Velmurugan, expressed dissatisfaction over the manner in which the Greater Chennai City Police had conducted the investigation and pointed out gaping holes in the probe.
The Judge transferred the case to the CBI, on a petition by the deceased leader's brother, K Imanuel.
The Court also directed the CBI to complete the probe in six months and file the charge sheet in the case.
