Chennai, Sept. 18 -- The Madras High Court today restrained the Income TaxDepartment from passing any further orders pertaining to centralisation of theaccounts of the ruling DMK and DMK Charitable Trust in connection with itsinvestigation into Mr Durai Murugan, who is a former Party Treasurer and nowa Minister.

The orders restraining the IT department was passed by the First Bench of theHigh Court today.

On April 1, 2019, a search and seizure was conducted in the premies belongingto Mr. Duraimurugan, General Secretary of the DMK party.

While assessment proceedings was going on against him, in January 2021, theIncome Tax Department wanted to centralise the assessment of the DMK Partyand the DMK Charitable Trust and transfer the files of ...
