Chennai, Sept. 10 -- The Madras High Court today dismissed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) petition that sought a direction to the Election Commission to file a report on the "vote theft" charges levelled by Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi.

The First Bench, comprising Chief Justice M M Shrivatsava and Justice G Arul Murugan, dismissed the PIL filed by lawyer Venkata Sivakumar and imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on him, observing that it was a case for publicity.
