Chennai, Oct. 22 -- The Madras High Court today permitted the Tamil Nadu Government to proceed with the strengthening and improvement of ponds, and any other public-related projects on the 160.86 acres recovered from the Madras Race Club (MRC) atGuindy in the heart of the city.

Today's court order meant that the State government has secured complete control of the entire land.

A Division Bench ofcomprising Mr Justice SM Subramaniam and Mr Justice Mohammed Shafiq, on an appeal filed by the State Government against the MRC, passed theorders after hearing arguments by Senior Counsel and Rajya Sabha Member P Wilson assisted by D Ravichandran SGP representingthe State Government.
