Paris, Sept. 22 -- French President Emmanuel Macron's Middle East advisor, Ofer Bronchtein, has said he played a key role in persuading the leader to recognise a Palestinian state, despite being aware of the potential ramifications and the risk of a "small diplomatic tsunami," in the future.
Speaking to Euractiv, Bronchtein - who served as an advisor to former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin during the Oslo peace process - argued that Palestinian recognition was "essential to ensure Israel's security" and would create momentum for other countries to follow, reports BBC.
