Chandigarh, Sept. 7 -- The situation in Ludhiana remains critical as the Satluj River continues to threaten villages near Sasrali, where a dam weakened late Friday night, allowing water to flood nearby fields.
To prevent water from reaching residential areas, the administration, with assistance from the Army and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), constructed a ring dam.
However, erosion was reported in this structure on Saturday, prompting the Army to begin work on a third dam to reinforce flood defences.
