Lucknow, Dec. 26 -- A class 10 student has stopped attending school after allegedly being assaulted by a group of youths demanding extortion money outside a private school in the Ghazipur police station area of Lucknow.

Despite a complaint being filed, the police have reportedly taken no action even after 15 days, leaving the victim and his family fearful.

The incident is linked to a convent school, located in the Bhootnath area. The victim, identified as Shubh Pandey, alleged that a group of 8-10 boys routinely stand outside the school and demand "protection money" from students. Those who refuse are allegedly beaten. Shubh said he was targeted in a similar manner recently.
